Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA:
Hello brew lovers! Today’s brew is best called love in a glass. Drunk on Valentine’s Day by yours truly, this brew is easily in my top three beers. Ever. As Dogfish Head named this bad boy, the 90-minute IPA is not only “the best IPA in America” but one of the best beers around. As the name would imply, this beer is filled with more hops than a room full of kangaroos and kicks just as strong. Coming in at 9% ABV this beer is best enjoyed more like a fine bourbon or single malt than a beer. The beer emits a complex smell of hops and fruits and the taste…wow the taste! You get the typical front end bitterness of a IPA but that quickly evaporates to a complex fruit finish that is just delicious. This is best enjoyed slowly in a chilled glass and the beer coming out around 45 degrees prior to pouring (I know this because I have converted a nice dual zoned wine fridge to a red wine and beer fridge and the bigger, cooler bottom zone sits at 45 degrees). Do yourself a favor and make a mental note to by a 4 pack of this beer next time you run across it, the expense and effort will be well rewarded.
