Crispin Apple Cider (Draft):
Today’s brew is another cider, though this one is a true English cider. Crispin Apple Cider is actually the one that got me into the idea of drinking ciders about a year ago when they released a limited edition run of their “Blue Line” aged in Bourbon barrels. After enjoying that tasty libation I decided to try others in their line to see if they equaled the taste. Surprisingly, I have found their entire line to be very appealing though not an every day drink. Taking advantage of finding a place that had Crispin Blue Line on tap, I ordered up a glass and was welcomed to see this tall thin number brought to my table. Not sure if this glass is supposed to follow in the footsteps of Sam Adams or Guinness which both have specific glassware for ideal enjoyment, but I threw caution to the wind and went and head with my drink. The blue line is a very clean, moderately carbonated cider that allows its notes on taste pair more with a Riesling wine then a cider. Fruity and dry this cider is very good at almost any temperature it’s served at from ice cold to cool. Nice notes of floral in mid taste and a dry back-end allow this brew to be light on the pallet. Designed to be severed over ice, but we have this thing called refrigeration here in the states so no worries about that but think creatively, this cider is an excellent half to your traditional beer mixes out there. Be adventurous.
