Ridgeway's Reindeer Revolt:
Today’s libation is from across the pond in merry ole England. Named after some rebellious caribou, Ridgeway’s Reindeer Revolt is an English Holiday Ale available stateside. I will admit that the idea of drink the beer of a Marxist Deer was very intriguing but sadly, I think my expectations were a bit too high. You see, most winter seasonal ales are brewed with flavors and spices traditional to the season (Shiner Cheer or Snow Day) but this one didn’t seem to follow that tradition. While online reviews hail of caramel malts, hops, and cinnamon, I tasted none of that. Really, this beer poured well, nice thick foamy head with a good body of color and fizz but taste was, well, meh. The beer was non-offensive and really didn’t come with much of anything taste wise to write home about. It was an easy drink but nothing unique. Best put by one reviewer “pretty mediocre” and I’ll add forgettable to that one too.
