Delerium Tremens:
Today’s foreign libation once again comes from the land of small in size but large in beer production aka Belgium. The Delerium Tremens is a rather odd beer, very enjoyable but produces flavors that aren’t normally together. The beer produces a nice clean smell and clear, almost champagne color and fizz. However, once the cool clean product hits your tongue, welcome to the land of confusion. The beer produces a subtle yet complex fruity taste that last about a split second before the sledge hammer of hops hits your taste buds and you soon discover that dogs and cats are living together and general mass hysteria. I found myself taking small sips at first, trying to nail down a taste or flavor, but alas, no such luck. I gave up from there and just went to enjoy the beer with my meal though the after taste of hops lingered well past the meal and that didn’t sit well with me so a quick piece of gum cured my ailment. Like all hoppy beers, this one is best suited for a spicy meal or even a before dinner drink. And yes, that is a pink elephant and dancing reptiles on the label.
