Flying Dog Old Scratch Amber Lager:
Today’s brew is another fine from those quirky Flying Dogs. Old Scratch Amber Lager is one that I usually don’t like, a sweet beer. The beer sports a good color of dark amber with a thin foamy head and a nice aroma of caramel and malts. The taste is sweet, well, maybe semi-sweet is a better description. There is a nice undertone of spice but the sweet overwhelms it and leaves you with a nice flavor for a dinner beer. I can see why the beer is recommended with salty foods, meats and cheeses. A good fall beer, needs a fire place, a roaring fire and a good book.
