Bayou Teche Bouncanee Smoked Wheat Ale:
Today’s beer is from-every say it with me-our
neighbors to the east. Once again we come upon the unique brews of
Bayou Teche Biere, this one is one that remind me of a favorite summer
brew of mine. The Bouncanee beer is brewed using smoked wild cherry
wood to give this wheat ale a subtle yet strong smokey flavor that
enhances the subtle qualities of a wheat ale. Born from the tradition
of smoking meats over this wild wood,
Bayou Teche decided to make this into a very tasty beer that would
accompany a summer barbeque very well. Their website also gives a nice
use for the wild cherries that fell from these trees and might make a
weekend project for myself. Sadly, not available here it Texas yet, but
once it is, I’ll add it to the summer rotation (or just pick up some on
my next trip down, either way).
