Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit:

Today’s brew is another great one hailing from our eastern neighbors. This Abita is typically their summer beer and yes, any moron can look at the calendar and see that we are a good 2 to 3 weeks away from summer here in North Texas, but I found this beer in the back of my beer fridge (in reality it’s a wine cooler) and decided to drink it before it got back into season. The brew is delicious wheat ale that sports the spicy citrus flavor of the Louisiana Satsuma, which the fruit and the grain are used in the making of this beer. The label compares the brew to a hot summer day in Louisiana which only gives more truth to the saying “we only trust the air we can see”, popular in Florida and, now, Louisiana. A very cloudy wheat beer it’s flavor leans more toward a pale ale and thus paired best with spicy dishes or seafood.
